Watch Mummy3 This Sunday

I have got two free movie tickets from Hoyts' website by simply registering as a free member. I have printed out the voucher and ready to watch on Sunday when my wife is free.

You can also get one by signing up on Hoyts' website. But be quick, offer ends next Tuesday.

I am not sure any good ones on showing in the cinema, so I did a bit of research. And I have decided to watch the Mummy 3 - Tomb of Dragon Emperor.

Haven't been blogging for a long long time since I went back to China mid September. Now I am here again and start recovering for work from holidays.

I should be more active on this blog and increase its traffic. Happy blogging....

Reverse ATM Pin Number

Got a forwarded email from friends regarding withdrawing cash from ATM on robbery:

This is very interesting and lets hope none of us ever have to use it!

PIN NUMBER REVERSAL (GOOD TO KNOW)

If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse.

For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321.

The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine.

The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you.

This information was recently broadcasted on TV and it states that it is seldom used because people don't know it exists.

Please pass this along to everyone possible.

I did some googling after reading the email and found out that there are lots of people talking about it, back to 2006. Sounds like it is true, however, this raises the immediate question that how would you reverse the PINs like "2002", "3443" and "1221"?

Dragonball - The Movie 2009

Wow, Dragonball is finally ready to be screened in cinemas on April 10, 2009. I just learnt today from my friend John Yu, who sent a link with the movie information. I have watched most Dragonball cartoons, and can't wait to watch the movie.

Last Day In Operations Team In Hitwise

Today is my last day at Operations Team in Hitwise. My manager Peter has promoted me to join the R&D ( Research & Development ) team and it was finalised in early April. I have been waiting for my replacement of my current position, and the last day has come.

Thanks to Eric Blanchi, who is my current team leader, who cooked brownies for my farewell morning tea. Also thanks to John Mosca and Sarah who brings tasty Crispy Donuts for the morning tea as well. Some of the QA and R&D staff also joined the brief farewell.

I spent around 30 minutes to move my desktop and all of my stuff over to the new seat, so that everything is ready for Monday's work.

Most of the developers in R&D are senior developers who have at least 6-10 years of experience. This is a real challenge for me because I only have 3 years of experience and there are lots of new knowledge and technologies that are waiting for me to learn.

First Blood Donation

This week Hitwise organized staff members to donate blood to the red cross, and I was one of the guys who raised their hands. This is my first time to donate blood, and maybe I should do more in the future.

We left company at 3:15PM on Monday, arrived at around 3:30PM. It takes a while to register for first time donors, then we have brief interviews with their staff to access our eligibility, mainly to follow the questions we filled in the registration form and test our iron level in our blood. The iron level needs to be between 130-180, otherwise you can't donate blood.

I started at 4:20PM. It was a bit scary to see nurses with needles and equipments, because I hate needles, but I told myself that I need to be strong, millions of people doing this everyday, why can't I? Nurse told me that they would take 30ML for blood testing and 470ML will be actually donated. So we will lose 500ML of blood during donation.

The whole process took around 10 minutes and then we had pie, milk shake, orange juice and biscuits to eat afterwards. During the donation, the nurse also told me that there are around 120 people donate at this place, quite an impressive number.

I should do it more often in the future.
